We've had a busy year at the School of Food this year. Another class of graduates left us and moved on to pastures new, one of whom has opened up a delicious new restaurant in Thomastown called Toast. Our fantastic Development Manager Róisín changed careers and headed back into the city, leaving Jane and John to take the reigns in the office and the garden! In September they were joined by Dympna and Eadaoin (our brilliant LTI Tutors) and the brand new Level 5 Cookery Programme kicked off. We have a fantastic bunch of students who are now part of the furniture and well on their way to becoming chefs!
Our garden has gone from strength to strength and we are now supplying a range of restaurants in both Thomastown and Kilkenny City. This is made all the easier by our fantastic group of volunteers who meet every Thursday morning at the school and do fantastic work with John in the garden. Likewise our community classes have been busier than ever and our collaboration with The Organic Centre in Leitrim has been a great success. We look forward to working with them again in 2018. Of course our evening classes would not be possible without our wonderful cookery volunteers and we'd like to say a huge thank you to them also!
We have many exciting events planned for 2018 including an Indian Masterclass with Arun Kapil of Green Saffron Spices and a Street Food Festival with our chef students. For a glance at what else is coming up click here. We'd like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to all of our supporters without whom we wouldn't still be here! We wish you all a happy and peaceful Christmas and New Year and we look forward to seeing you in 2018.
